The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a 1974 American independent horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and played out to be a true account which is why it attracted a wider audience on its US market release. It was banned in many countries and after its British release which included a one year theatrical run in London the film was banned by the BBFC but a in 1988 Camden London Borough Council gave the film a license and the next year the film was passed as an 18 certificate by the BBFC. The two posters are similar in that the background is white but the title is red showing that the film is from the horror genre.
